The episode: 'Radio Bart' The role: Bruce Springsteen as Bruce Springsteen It's still not entirely known how or why Bruce Springsteen didn't end up on the show, but it is known that he officially turned down guest appearances in 'One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish' and that he later rejected 'When You Dish Upon a Star' Though the episode had originally been written for Springsteen, it was Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner - or as you may know him: Sting - who ultimately became the saviour of the day for 'Radio Bart'. Tangentially, Springsteen wasn't the only celebrity to reject 'When You Dish Upon a Star'. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore also declined the invitation to play the celebrity couple who move into town but fortunately Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger stepped in instead.
