Tony Chu is a cibopath, someone with the power to absorb knowledge and memories about what happened to the things he eats, including human remains. He uses this power as a detective, though at times it seems to be his only asset. Tony might just be the least strange thing about his world: in the near future, all bird meats have been outlawed after an outbreak of bird flu killed 23 million Americans. At first employed by the Philadelphia PD, he quickly finds a better role in the FDA, which has much more power and authority in law enforcement than in our world. In the course of his adventures, he encounters many other people with strange and not-exactly-Avengers-grade super-powers, most of them also related to food. The direct-to-DVD and digital animated movie is a close adaptation of Chew's first storyline, with strong involvement from series creators John Layman and Rob Guillory and the voice talents of Steven Yeun and Felicia Day. Anticipation Level: Strong. Chew is an excellent series with two well-deserved Eisner and Harvey Awards and the talents involved are highly promising. The only problem with such a close adaptation is that if you know the series, you already know how the first story ends...
