11 Great Things You Only Notice Rewatching Deadwood

7. Garret Dillahunt

An actor most known for roles in Raising Hope and No Country For Old Men, Garret Dillahunt also plays two very different characters in Deadwood. Perhaps because the show was released weekly or because he is a bigger star now, it wasn't as obvious the first time watching the show as it was on the rewatch.

The first character Dillahunt played was the infamous Jack McCall, who shot Wild Bill Hickok in the back of the head, and the nefarious Francis Wolcott who works for George Hearst as a geologist. Both these characters make an impact and earn the audience's disdain.

Funnily enough, he was almost cast for two separate characters in the series, Sheriff Bullock and Doc Cochran but lost each role. He is even seen in a cameo role in the movie and is implied to be Jack McCall's son.
