Frank Darabont - writer/director of The Shawshank Redemption - is the man responsible for bringing The Walking Dead to our screens.

Darabont's tenure brought the show to life and gave us the stellar first season (still one of the series' best), but then he departed in the middle of production on Season 2.

This happened for budgetary reasons, with AMC wanting twice as many episodes on a smaller budget than Season 1. Darabont was subsequently fired, and has been involved in a lawsuit ever since, seeking damages of $280m.

There's a chance of it going to trial, which would likely be next year if it were to happen. AMC have said they'll vigorously defend the case, but it's still a huge, long-running mess they could've done without, while the show undoubtedly suffered as a result too, with Season 2 one of its weakest runs.
