2. Brady Bunch Cousin Oliver Joins the Family (Season 5, Episode 7)
I hate the Brady Bunch. Tried so many times to watch it and every time I feel like someone is raking my eyes from inside my skull with a blunt fork, its only the parodies and piss takes that I can really watch without vomiting uncontrollably. So once again I have never watched this program enough to really comment on the Shark Jumping moment, although I did think that it would have been the moment that Jan Brady was recast in The Brady Bunch Hour (seeing as this has been parodied and ribbed by so many over the years) but instead the owner of Jaws in this instance is that of Brady family member Oliver Tyler (not directly related, second cousin...distant...maybe adopted). Apparently the appearance of this child was like the birth of the antichrist, actually no it is like the appearance of the Silver Surfer before Galactus devours the Earth, actually no Ill stick with antichrist because that oozes more evil. So who is Cousin Oliver? Well he is the son of Jack (Carols brother) and Pauline Tyler who have to go and live in South America and apparently they couldnt get him over the border because they leave him with The Brady Bunch (maybe they knew he was a bad omen and Jack was finally getting revenge on his sister for all the times he busted his playboy collection to their mother?). Maybe border patrol saw something in Olivers eyes, maybe he saw his own demise and the demise of his great nation in those red glowing eyes and refused to let them cross...or maybe it is all a co-incidence! I personally think it is, Im not going to deny that fans didnt seem to warm to the new arrival, in fact everyone seemed to hate him some referring him to as an utter annoyance, one I saw Oliver on the show I knew it was over. His shows were also rated as the worst of the entire series to the point that Robert Reed (Mike Brady) refused to appear. I personally feel you cant lay this child entirely to blame for what happened with the Brady Bunch though, it had been running for so long and had such a limited humour appeal that I cant help but feel the show was probably on its last legs anyway, though the timing of the shows demise does seem suspiciously close to Olivers arrival (within 5 or 6 episodes!) Whether there is any truth to this or not will have to be deduced by scholars in the distant future musing over our primitive ways whilst the Morlocks try and overrun their society, it seems to have become the associated reason for the Brady Bunchs demist though, so much so that the actor who played Oliver Tyler joked of it on a celebrity Weakest Link saying I hope I dont kill this show too! So that is my list of Shark Jumping shows, however just when you thought it was safe to move off of the page I have a little RED HERRING one for you, a show that Jumped the Shark in my opinion but has not been acknowledged to have done so because in theory it could have been avoided. Its complicated to explain to let me just get on with it so it will hopefully make more sense:
