The role of Kate Austen in J.J. Abrams' iconic drama shot Evangeline Lilly to overnight fame, though in recent years she has opened up about how, despite the fame and fortune, the reality of playing Kate was less-than-ideal:

"At the beginning, she was kind of cool. And then as the show went on, I felt like she became more and more predictable and obnoxious. I felt like my character went from being autonomous—really having her own story and her own journey and her own agendas—to chasing to men around the island. And that irritated the s*** out of me...I did throw scripts across rooms when I’d read them."

Lilly's frustrations were clearly compounded by the producers' desire to have her occasionally - and needlessly - flaunt some flesh, further underpinning the idea that Kate couldn't just be a person, but had to be a slab of meat also. She recently said:

"In Season 3, I’d had a bad experience on set with being basically cornered into doing a scene partially naked, and I felt had no choice in the matter. I was mortified and I was trembling, and when it finished, I was crying my eyes out and I had to go on to do a very formidable, very strong scene immediately thereafter."

After another troubling incident in season four, she refused to disrobe again, and her comments recently saw Abrams, Jack Bender, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof issue a public apology to Lilly for the incidents.

And with Lilly now busy kicking a** in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it certainly seems like she's graduated onto greener pastures indeed.
