12 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Star Trek

5. Adrien Brody

Before Zachary Quinto was cast, Adrien Brody was apparently director J.J. Abrams' first choice for Spock in the 2009 reboot.

Brody confirmed the story telling MTV, "I did talk to J.J. [Abrams] about that. That would have been cool. I told my parents. They got a kick out of it. 'I may be Spock!' Oh, well. Could have been cool."

Ultimately, Brody turned down the role, and we’re probably all better for that decision.

In another strange casting choice, Abrams almost cast Gary Sinise as Dr. McCoy. And, Matt Damon was strongly considered for the role of James Kirk. Try, if you can, to image a version of Star Trek with Matt Damon, Adrien Brody, and Gary Sinise in the main starring roles.
