3. The Simpsons - Marge Be Not Proud (1995)
The Simpsons has been going for so long now that there are many festive episodes to choose from. Even its first ever episode which premiered on December 17, 1989, just so happened to be a Christmas special titled 'Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire'. Since then our favourite Springfield family have celebrated Christmas in a variety of different ways such as Lisa's Buddhist conversion, lampooning biblical stories and even fighting an angry Gary Coleman. My all time favourite Simpsons holiday special is still 'Marge Be Not Proud'. There's a lot of heart in the episode that the show is now starting to lack. Bart is caught stealing the must-have violent video game 'Bonestorm' from the local Try-N-Save and is warned to stay away by security guard Don Brodka. When his parents learn of his crime it really hits Marge hard leading her to become distant. It's a simple story of redemption as Bart resolves to do the right thing. Although Bart is a character who frequently gets himself into trouble, there are rarely consequences like those shown in this episode. He forces Marge to consider where she went wrong as a parent, even going so far as to relegate him from festive activities such as building snowmen. Of course there is a happy ending when Bart presents her with the picture of himself, returning the loving status quo to the house. Also, who wouldn't want to play a riveting game of Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge?
