9. Charles Gunn
Charles Gunn (J. August Richards) was a streetwise kid who led a gang of fellow street-kids in protecting their turf from vampires. At first, Gunn's hatred for vampires doesn't allow him to see Angel's good side and he tries (unsuccessfully) to stake him, but Angel gains his trust and, ultimately, Gunn joins Angel's team as the muscle (he 'likes to hit stuff'). Gunn possesses the tactical knowledge of a military general and the fighting prowess of a hardened street-brawler. He becomes a key member of team Angel, not afraid to go up against even the most dangerous and powerful demons. He also gained a mind-upgrade later in the show's run, giving him the knowledge of a top lawyer - including demon laws - and helps Angel in his final battle with the Senior Partners, where he is mortally wounded.
