9. Beverley Garland

Who Was She? With a career spanning 40 years, Beverly Garland appeared in a huge number of films and TV series, although mostly in smaller roles. Her two biggest were on My Three Sons, as Barbara Harper Douglas, and Dotty West on Scarecrow and Mrs King. She passed away in 2008, aged 82.

Role On Friends: The no-nonsense Iris, aunt of Monica and Ross, who teaches the girls how to play poker so they can beat the boys in The One With All The Poker. She wasn't particularly pleasant to the girls, displaying her cutting wit even in her brief appearance: "Let me tell you something, everything you hear at a poker game is pure crap. Nice earrings..."
