12 Great Comic Book References In Buffy & Angel

1. Jimmy Olsen - The Zeppo

Jimmy Olsen "The Zeppo", another episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, focuses on Xander being made to feel like the useless, odd one out in the Scooby Gang. After getting himself hurt in an underground battle against some demons, the following conversation occurs... Rupert Giles: "Uh, Xander, I think in the future perhaps it would be best if you, you, uh, h-hung back to the rear of the battle, you know, for your own sake." Xander Harris: "But, gee, Mr. White, if Clark and Lois get all the good stories, I'll *never* be a good reporter." Rupert Giles: "Hmm?" Xander Harris: "Jimmy Olsen joke, sir. Pretty much gonna be lost on you, huh?" And then, shortly afterwards in the same episode, this is said... Cordelia Chase: "It must be really hard when all your friends have, like, superpowers - Slayer, werewolf, witches, vampires - and you're, like, this little nothing. You must feel like Jimmy Olsen." Xander Harris: "(chuckles) I was just talking to... (suddenly offended) Hey, mind your own business!" On each occasion - once by himself and once by Cordelia Chase - Xander is likened to Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy Olsen is a photographer friend of DC Comics' Superman - he has no powers whatsoever. So there you have it; Twelve great comic book references in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
