12 Most Rewatchable TV Shows Of All Time

7. Arrested Development

Largely ignoring the Netflix revival, Arrested Development is one of the cleverest sitcoms ever made, and while sitcoms do tend to lend themselves to rewatches better than drama anyway, this one stands apart in why.

It's not just because it's hilarious or the Bluth family is worth spending time with, but instead comes down to how layered the episodes are. From the get-go there are moments of foreshadowing that you might not even notice, and then repeated callbacks too, along with gags relating to the actors' other works and various real-world events that surrounded the show.

It's only on rewatch you can fully appreciate how smart it is, getting to understand all the references and see how, as an example, an off-hand comment about hooks in Season 1 pays off halfway through Season 2.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
