12 Most Underrated TV Shows Ever
8. Party Down
Airing for two seasons from 2009 to 2010, single camera comedy Party Down's awesome cast - featuring Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Jane Lynch, Jennifer Coolidge and Megan Mullally - fitted perfectly with the genius-level high concept. The show featured aspiring actors and writers in Hollywood making a living doing catering at private functions and parties while dreaming of hitting the big time. The comedy was sharp and on point, and the situation changed every week depending on the event they were working.
Why did it not acquire the notoriety of a Parks and Recreation, a Community, even a 30 Rock? Those shows were at NBC, a network which audiences had associated with comedy for decades, and which reached practically every home in the USA. Party Down was on Starz, a cable network which reached less than thirty thousand. Devastatingly witty, absurdist when it needed to be and drier than stale toast with the aircon on, Party Down should, by rights, be in its ninth and final season and poised to make film stars out of everyone who'd ever touched the hem of its robe, but that's TV for you.
