When Sheldon and Amy became an official couple in The Big Bang Theory... that was an odd moment. It was a very out-of-character move for the near-robotic Sheldon Cooper. But their relationship is hardly normal. Sheldon still has an aversion to intimate human contact and he generally treats their relationship more like a contractual obligation than a close bond. Amy, on the other hand, is much more interested in affection. There are occasional moments where their attitudes towards relationships meet in the middle and we get a very brief view of some romantic contact between them.
