For an animated sitcom about a talking horse who used to be a TV star, BoJack Horseman packs a ridiculous gut-punch to go with its comedy and silliness.

Season 4's Time's Arrow runs it close, but the series' most upsetting moment - and a defining one for the character - is the death of Sarah Lynn, who played BoJack's daughter on the show Horsin' Around, which comes not long after she and BoJack have reconnected.

After a massive bender, Sarah Lynn appears to pass out in the motel room - only for it to turn out she's ok. She wakes up to discover that she''s won an Oscar, something she completely forget about in the haze, and seems on the verge of realising she needs to turn her life around. She and BoJack go to the Planetarium, one place she can feel happy and calm, and as BoJack talks about "this one spectacular moment" she slips away.

It's made even more tragic by her final words: "I want to be an architect." This was a long-running thread for the character, and the main reason she loved the Planetarium. It also comes just when BoJack finally tries to do the right thing for her, representing the culmination of how his efforts to be better end up in his face.
