As Clay Jensen stood there looking at Bryce Walker's coffin, shoulder-to-shoulder with his friends and enemies, he was probably thinking something along the lines of "How did it all come to this?" And you know what Clay, you aren't the only one?

Netflix's 13 Reasons Why was born out of Jay Asher's novel and after the first season successfully adapted it, the story should have been over. Why? Well, because the show was Hannah Baker's story and, without Hannah, there is no story.

After all, that's the reason that the writers made Season 2 all about the aftermath of her death and even kept Katherine Langford around to portray a ghostly iteration of the character. So why, after jumping through all those hoops to keep her on the show, have they went ahead and moved on without her anyway?

No matter how well the story is executed in Season 3, it won't change the fact that a show that started out as an attempt to make a statement about an important topic (whether it was successful or not will remain up for debate) has evolved into a fully-blown murder mystery. What is this, Riverdale?
