13 Reasons Why Season 4: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

15. Dr. Robert Ellman

13 Reasons Why Season 4
Netflix

The legendary Gary Sinise made his presence felt throughout as the season as Clay's therapist Dr. Robert Ellman. Though he was essentially a plot device that allowed the narrator - in this case Clay - to relay information to the viewer (much like Hannah's tapes, the trial and Ani's police interview), he served his purpose well and provided viewers with a little bit more.

Ellman was the only person that Clay would completely allow himself to trust and that came across well in their therapy sessions, but it was their familiarity with each other that allowed it to play out smoother than expected. From Clay's constant insults to Ellman's playful responses - not-to-mention the latter's powerful monologue about wanting to help people - the duo worked well on-screen, allowing the narrating plot device to work much better than it did in some of the previous seasons.
