14 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled
5. Last Man Standing
Hot on the heels of No Tomorrow in the 'show with a name most suited to bad cancellation jokes', ABC's Last Man Standing is down for the ten-count after six seasons.
The Tim Allen sitcom is different to most of the shows on this list, however, in that its cancellation comes as a big surprise, and can't be attributed to ratings: it was ABC's second highest-rated comedy, and third overall show. This means its currently garnering far more headlines than it ever received while on air, with a lot of speculation as to whether Tim Allen's conservative views (which the show itself mirrors and plays to) played a role.
A truer story, however, is likely that it's an ageing show, and an expensive one (in terms of salary and the fee ABC need to pay to 20th Century Fox, who own it), which has led to cancellation, but there's likely no way of knowing just how much politics did actually influence things.
