15 Amazing Guest Appearances On Bojack Horseman
11. Joel McHale - Alex
When guest appearances happen in Bojack Horseman, they
tend to fall under two categories: either they're celebrities playing themselves
or they’re voicing an animal.
Rarely do we see actors play a new human character, and one so head-scratching as Alex, voiced by Joel McHale, is certainly a treat.
Making a single-episode appearance, Alex is a KGB spy who awakes from a 30-year coma still hellbent on crippling capitalist America. But his campaign for the Communists is thwarted by his inability to contact his KGB handlers, and instead Alex serves as the third person in a love triangle between Bojack and his new girlfriend Wanda.
Bojack’s insecurities are skyrocketed due to the fact that Wanda also awoke from a 30-year coma. The similarities between the two drive Bojack crazy, and outing Alex as a communist spy at a party isn’t met with the disdain he hoped for.
In the end, Alex believes his work in the US is done when Todd and Mr Peanutbutter fight over the rights to a knock-off Disneyland, and he returns to Russia believing he has defeated the United States.
