11. I Am So Over You

Another rather contentious Joan quote from season one, this time from the episode Long Weekend. Here we see Joan saying €œ1960, I am so over you.€ Linguists have argued that using €˜so€™ in order to quantify the extent of something would not have been used in back in 1960, and Weiner has admitted that there were arguments in the writers€™ room as to whether or not the phrase would make it into the show. Ultimately it did, mostly thanks to Cole Porter€™s 1948 song €˜So In Love€™. The phrase €˜I hear you€™ was reportedly not so lucky.
