15 Best American Horror Story Deaths
4. Twisty - Freak Show
Ever since his introduction to American Horror Story during Freak Show, Twisty the Clown has become one of the most iconic characters in the show's history. There is no one that can match him in terms of how simply creepy and terrifying he is, but his death showed a deeper, more surprising level to him.
The first few scenes in which Twisty appeared showed him as a ruthless murderer, hell bent on kidnapping children and keeping them in his van. Even before he actually did anything wrong, his appearance alone was enough to scare anyone watching.
When Edward Mordrake visited however, the Clown's tragic and heartbreaking past was revealed. Dropped on his head as a child, he was forced out of Jupiter by false rumours of child molestation, sending him into a spiral of desperation and depression, ultimately resulting in a failed suicide attempt that saw him blow his jaw off.
He genuinely never wished the children he took any harm, he just wanted to entertain them like he always did before. Mordrake was so moved by this story, he took Twisty's life and put him out of his misery, inviting him to join his troupe of the dead. This was a solemn and unexpected end to a character that had previously inspired so much dread.
