8. Reunion/Redefinition (Season 2, Episode 10/11)
"People are going to die."/"And yet, somehow, I can't seem to care."
After trying to save Darla in the previous episode, Angel found his former paramore sired by Drusilla once again, with the pair ready to wreak havoc across Los Angeles. Reunited, Darla and Drusilla go on a killing spree and Angel and the gang race to stop them before it's too late.
Though at first seeming like a monster-of-the-week tale, albeit one with a lot more emotion from Angel's standpoint, the conclusion of Reunion sees Angel go dark and allow the villainous pair to kill a group of Wolfram and Hart lawyers in cold blood. He then fires Cordelia, Wesley and Gunn from Angel Investigations and heads out to stop the vampires once and for all.
Reunion and Redefinition form together to create a long, bleak story, wherein Angel must wrestle with his inner darkness and confront his past with devastating results. With the lawyer massacre and the sudden conclusion in which Angel attempts to burn his adversaries to death, the episodes remain two of the most powerful and shocking of the series.
