15 Best Animated Shows Since The Simpsons
6. Futurama
Futurama is one of televison's best animated programmes. Its style - in its visuals, its satirical tone, and its distinctive, gag-filled opening sequence - is clearly reminiscent of The Simpsons, which is natural considering that both shows are the brainchildren of Matt Groening.
Futurama is a sci-fi comedy show, following the protagonist, Phillip J. Fry, who is frozen in the year 2000 to wake up in the year 2999, and gets a job working for his last living descendant.
Spanning seven seasons and one-hundred and forty episodes between 1999 and 2013, Futurama has received critical acclaim and is beloved by avid fans, the majority of whom are equally avid fans of The Simpsons. Given their stylistic similarities, it is almost impossible to like one and not to like the other.
It has spawned a series of comics, four direct-to-video feature films, and two video-games, securing its place as one of the best and most popular animated shows of all time.
