13. American Dad!
Beginning in 2005, American Dad spans across sixteen seasons and two-hundred and seventy-six episodes, with the seventeenth season expected to debut in mid-April 2020.
The series follows the Smith family: Stan, Francine, Hayley, and Steve. Other characters include the Smiths' pet goldfish, Klaus Heissler; Jeff Fisher, Hayley's boyfriend; and Deputy Director Avery Bullock, Stan's boss. These well-written and entertaining characters are the main appeal of American Dad.
The show uses dark comedy and surreal humour - among other plot techniques - to entertain its mostly North American audience.
Although it's far from the most popular animated TV series, American Dad's style of humour is very reminiscent of The Simpsons' - making it a hit with fans of the latter. As well as this fact, the witty and amusing humour of the show earns it a place on this list.
