15 Best How I Met Your Mother Episodes

Season nine is a mess, but How Your Mother Met Me is anything but. In fact, it's the very best that the show has to offer - a clever, sweeping, emotionally devastating masterclass of storytelling that hits all the right notes and finally gives fans an in-depth look at Tracy (Cristin Milioti), aka The Mother.

As it turns out, Tracy has had her ups and down in life. Her boyfriend died in an accident, she swore off men, she went to school (where she was briefly, accidentally, taught by Ted), and she broke up with her second long-term boyfriend after realising she can't let her first love go.

It's great to see how close Ted and Tracy were to each other throughout the show, and it's amazing how much detail has been put in the episode. Tracy's life mirrors Ted's, driving home the fact that they're meant for each other.

And Milioti's rendition of La Vie en Rose is a perfect cap-off to a perfect episode.
