15 Best New TV Characters Of The Decade

5. Eleven - Stranger Things

Stranger Things really took this decade by storm and galvanised the growth of ‘80s nostalgia. In a way though, it’s a surprise it was ever a success at all.

The target audience wasn’t even alive during the era the show nostalgically pines for, sci fi horror can be difficult to get right and Dungeons & Dragons doesn’t seem like it would bring in a huge crowd. The 2010s was the decade when nerd culture finally went mainstream though, and Stranger Things cashed in big time.

Though it’s presented as an ensemble cast, Eleven and Mike are clearly in the driving seat, with Hopper and Steve stepping up as the show went on too.

Eleven though is the unrivalled icon of the show. Whether it’s her early shaven head and bloody nose, ratty blonde wig and Eggos or her later, more confident looks, Eleven is a definitive character of this decade. Millie Bobby Brown has already started to break out and appears set for a stellar career too.

With the series set to conclude next year, barring a Game Of Thrones level catastrophe, Stranger Things & Eleven will go down in history.
