3. Tyrion Lannister - Game Of Thrones

Game Of Thrones Tyrion Eastwatch

So near, yet so, so far for Tyrion Lannister. Taking Game Of Thrones from Season One to Four (even One to Six), and Tyrion is the clear runaway winner here. It wouldn’t even be close.

Unfortunately, Game Of Thrones nosedived faster than Rhaegal fell into the sea after an amazingly well aimed arrow, and Tyrion must settle for third. The final two seasons don’t diminish Peter Dinklage’s earlier performances, and the talented actor did the best with the script provided.

Those last two stinkers must be taken into consideration though, so he’s knocked off his perch.

His evolution through the story, dancing between hero, anti hero and occasionally villain, was sublime to watch. His courtroom scene, his early days at Winterfell and his back and forths with Bronn made for fantastic television.

One of the cleverest men in Westeros, early Tyrion always kept us guessing and went head to head with all the major players in the Game Of Thrones.

If you’re still mad about how it all ended, avoid the recent Q&A panel with showrunners David Benioff & D. B. Weiss; they talk about how they downplayed fantasy to appeal to ‘mothers and NFL players’. Yeah, really.
