15 Best TV Episodes Of 2018 (So Far)
1. Teddy Perkins - Atlanta
Atlanta's sophomore outing - subtitled Robbin' Season - had a number of episodes that could qualify here, from the thrilling Woods to the bizarre yet quietly sad Helen, and of course FUBU, which felt like something out of The Wire's fourth season. Teddy Perkins, though, is the TV episode of 2018; the one that gets lodged in the brain and impossible to escape from.
It's difficult to even begin describing Teddy Perkins, which feels like Get Out if it was directed by a David Lynch with a better understanding of race and is partially inspired by Michael Jackson.
The episode is so downright creepy and disturbing, the tension and dread so palpable, that it becomes a transfixing, indelible half-hour; it's the kind of television that grips you and refuses to let go no matter how much you squirm. It's uncomfortably brilliant, constantly surprising, ridiculously bold, and brings with it one of the most memorable one-off TV characters in an age.
