15 Best TV Shows Of The Last 25 Years

4. South Park (1997-present)

South Park South Park is an animated series featuring four foul-mouthed 4th graders, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show is set in the Colorado town of South Park, where weird things keep happening, whether it's being abducted by aliens or avoiding Kyle's little brother, Ike. The show is based on the short film by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, "The Spirit of Christmas". This is a show that either has a genius episode, which are many, or really s*** ones. As people who know me know €“ I love making fun of ridiculous things like social "rules" and people's weird fascination with empty things (I love the E channel), and this show makes fun of even more awesome things, like political figures, Wal-Mart, band boy sensations, gay stuff, being a kid vs. being a grown up, and even (how shocking! Not.) retardation and the special Olympics. When I was researching for this piece, I saw the beginning date of this show, 1997, and it blew my mind. It feels like the show just started a few years ago. That's how to the point and relevant they are. They kick you right in the balls, and you want them to. I can't imagine being in their crazy, wonderful minds (creators Parker and Stone), nor would I want to be; it's got to be both Heaven and Hell. I also want to mention their movie (1999's South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut), which if you have not seen, you're missing out. Satan as the lead? Sold.

Born in Israel, but raised partly in the UK, Shira is rather an odd duck. She will get in your face with her opinion, but will then be super polite to the waitress serving her a cocktail, no matter how bad the service is. Movies are her passion, along with good TV, music, and Shakespeare. She loves to sing and goes to karaoke a lot, too. She will do anything creative, and will resort to finger painting if necessary. Shira also, apparently, enjoys writing about herself in third person, which is weird. But she just finished her first Fantasy novel, and it's not about her, so that's ok. Shira is very glad to be a part of WhatCulture!
