15 Great Sci-Fi Shows (Nobody Ever Talks About)
6. Max Headroom
The earliest of few cyberpunk TV offerings from the
eighties, an era when the subgenre dominated both written and cinematic sci fi genre,
this surreal spin off of Channel 4’s “computer generated” TV host was
short-lived but deeply influential nonetheless.
Its depiction of a world wherein society is owned by an oligarchy of TV networks, the government bought and sold by their executives, is sadly still all the more believable decades on. But luckily the story of a resistance led by its nominal hero is still as blackly funny and exciting as ever, making this series more than worth a re-watch even if it’s been all but forgotten by modern audiences.
