15 Greatest Final Shots In TV Shows Ever

5. The Wire

The Wire Ending
HBO

The finale of The Wire said goodbye to a number of familiar faces, but mostly it served as a reminder of who the show was really about. The closing montage simply gives us a snapshot of the lives of various citizens, before settling on a shot of the Baltimore skyline.

More than this was about McNulty, or Stringer Bell, or Omar; more than this was a story of criminal gangs, corrupt politicians, or sleazy police officers - this final shot reminds us that The Wire was a story about Baltimore itself, the show's greatest and most important character. It's here, in this image, we find the greed, the poverty, the broken systems, and the people who made the show one of the all-time greats.
