15 Greatest HBO Characters Of All Time

12. Leon Black

Larry David is quite possibly the funniest person on the planet, and Curb Your Enthusiasm is the finest platform imaginable for his ever relatable worldview. To steal scenes from the man himself on his own show is a tall order, but J B Smoove's Leon Black has been doing just that since his debut three seasons ago.

Leon is the bane of Larry's existence, as well as the agony uncle he never knew he needed, doling out brilliant advice on romance, dealing with bullies, and life itself. The joy of a good Curb episode is watching a benign situation devolve into chaos through lies, confusion, and misunderstandings, and the unhinged energy Leon brings is the perfect catalyst for this. In no other show could you find one of the main characters masquerading as a dead man in order to fool Michael Richards, aka Seinfeld's Kramer.

Ultimately, Leon is the greatest example of Larry David's immense gift for collaboration, and his ability to find the funny in anyone. And when that someone is already a very funny person, you end up with one of modern comedy's greatest creations.
