15 Most Disturbing Black Mirror Moments
9. The Peters Spider
Poor Cooper. He was a happy-go-lucky kinda dude, out to earn a cheeky buck testing some computer game software. Sadly, it seemed nobody told him he was doing so in an episode of Black Mirror.
Playtest was the show's opportunity to perform its own spin on the classic haunted-house formula, with more than its share of twists along the way. Having a bit of a giggle at the experience at first, Cooper eventually spirals ever-downward into an endless manifold of realities wrapped in realities, mixed in with past personal trauma and the odd bout of horror...
All of which happens within the 0.04 seconds of inert brain activity Cooper endures before his death at the hands of the botched playtest simulation.
This occurrence is tragic enough in itself, but the most spine-tingling moment in the episode comes during the second appearance of Josh Peters, an associate of Cooper's from high school. Seeing him all dressed in black isn't that scary, but seeing him as a glaring pulsating head with spider legs sure as hell is, and it's also one of the most macabre creations in the whole of Brooker's show.
