1. The Gifted (Fox)

What Is It

The much-hyped X-Men TV series from Fox and Marvel, which sees two parents take their kids on the run after realising they have mutant powers, and joining up with an underground organisation of mutants.

Reasons To Be Excited

This is a good period for the X-Men on screens both big and small, thanks to the likes of Logan and Legion. The Gifted might not have the prestige air of those two, but it nonetheless looks like another good addition to the franchise.

It has a strong cast, including True Blood's Stephen Moyer and Whedonverse favourite Amy Acker, and probably the strongest trailer of any new fall show. Bryan Singer has directed the pilot, and it will have some clear connections to the X-Men universe, including characters X-fans will be familiar with (such as the mutant Blink, and the Sentinels).
