2. Firefly
Cabin in the Woods scribe Joss Whedon’s Buffy follow-up Firefly may be one of the most famous cases of a fandom rioting over early cancellation, but there's no denying that this cult sci-fi series is as good as its crazed acolytes claimed.
With a stellar cast including a young Nathan Fillion as its rogue-ish hero, Firefly made a point of subverting and twisting sci-fi clichés as often as it played into them. This approach resulted in a darker and more unpredictable space opera than most viewers were accustomed to and earned this series an endlessly loyal fanbase, as well as a spot on this list.
Just don’t get too attached to any cast members—this is still a Joss Whedon show, after all.
