15 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Stranger Things

4. Death Is An Illusion (Or At Least It Might Be)

Stranger Things
Netflix

This will only remain a small detail for as long as it's not discussed on the show because the truth is that if Stranger Things actually does address this in the future, it could be huge. But enough about the possibilities, let's get to the facts... or lack thereof.

When you watch Stranger Things as it was supposed to be seen, it's pretty clear that the first season's human antagonist, Dr. Martin Brenner, died when the Demogorgan had his wicked way with him. But rewatching it altogether, that doesn't seem particularly clear anymore.

If we do use the old 'nothing's certain until we see the body' trope, we didn't actually see him get eaten after the creature pounced on him. And then there's the fact that the Russians are holding an American prisoner who may or may not be giving them information about the Upside Down.

It's more than likely now that this prisoner is Hopper, but the show's producers did seemingly confirm that Brenner is alive. And watching the show back, it does seem like the signs are pointing to his eventual return.

Big bad for the final season, anyone?
