17 Hidden TV Show Gems On Amazon Prime

14. Awkward

Orphan Black Clones Tatiana Maslany
MTV

MTV may not have the greatest of reputations when it comes to producing its own original TV shows, probably because it constantly pushes stuff like Jersey/Geordie Shore down people's throats, but Awkward is one that has managed to garner a fair bit of acclaim.

It stars Ashley Rickards (One Tree Hill) as high-schooler who has an accident that looks like a suicide attempt, which resultantly makes her a popular figure among her peers. It follows a lot of the typical high school issues, such as boys trouble and fitting in, but does so deftly, in a way that feels fresh.

Season 5 - which is supposedly the last - has just started on MTV, so there's a while before it comes to Amazon, but the first four seasons are available online, so there's plenty of time and opportunity to catch-up.
