15. Executive Decision - Another Tragic Day For Oceanic Airlines

Let's head to the big screen now as we continue to look at the long and tragic history of Oceanic Airlines. In the 1996 action blockbuster Executive Decision, terrorists took over a 747 bound from Athens to Washington D.C. The terrorists were Gkar and Poirot (aka Andreas Katsulas and David Suchet). But that's not the cool part. That is the plane itself, because that flight was Oceanic Flight 343 Not only has this airline faced one crash after another, it is also synonymous with terrorism so bad it takes the combined force of Steven Segal and Kurt Russel to save the day. Yet, nowhere in Lost is this dramatic event discussed, suggesting that the marketing people for Oceanic Airlines must be some of the best in the business.
