20 Awesome DC TV Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

8. Nightwing (Arrow & Gotham)

DC Comics

Arrow might not be able to use the character Nightwing - though it would be great if they could find a way - but that hasn't stopped them dropping in plenty of references to his hometown of Blüdhaven, sister city of Gotham. The most recent was a brief mention of Blüdhaven in the Season 5 premiere, but there have been plenty of others. In Season 3, Oliver lied to Thea that he was in Blüdhaven when in actuality he'd been killed by Ra's al Ghul, and it's actually seen in a couple of episodes - Dead To Rights and The Undertaking.

Combine those references with Gotham, and you've got yourself a Nightwing. The show hasn't introduced the character or the location, but it has introduced The Flying Graysons, who are the family of Dick Grayson, the person who becomes Robin and then Nightwing. One version of Nightwing has technically appeared on Arrow, with Sean Maher playing the character Shrapnel. Maher previously voiced Nightwing in the animated films Son of Batman and Batman vs. Robin.
