20 Best Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes

2. Hush

Hush is another prime example of Joss Whedon's propensity for experimentation. A lot of people might think that you can't make an entire episode with no dialogue...Whedon just sees it as a challenge. When the Gentlemen come calling (and they're one of the most terrifying, grotesque monsters that look like they came straight out of the spookiest German fairy tale ever), they steal everyone's voices because their only weakness is the sound of the heroine's scream. Without the power of speech, the characters have to find other interesting (and sometimes hilarious) ways of communicating with one another. Every moment of Hush is gripping, and it's the closest to a perfect 45-minute television episode as you're likely to find.
