20 Best Episodes Of Better Call Saul

5. Rock And Hard Place (Season 6, Episode 3)

Better Call Saul
AMC

Throughout the run of Better Call Saul, Nacho Varga was always at his lowest. Clever and haunted, he wanted to leave his drug-peddling life behind, but no matter how hard he tried he ended up deeper in the game than ever before.

Torn between loyalties and his deep desire to survive his mess, Rock and Hard Place finds Nacho pursued from every angle, hunted by the Salamancas for setting-up Lalo, and used as a pawn by Gus Fring to maintain the Chicken Man's relationship with the Cartel.

Thrilling in its execution, the episode gives Nacho the send-off he deserved, giving his enemies a menacing speech before killing himself and leaving Gus and the Cartel on peaceful (if admittedly shaky) terms with the Cartel's inner circle.

That Mike is so heartbroken by Nacho's fate makes Rock and Hard Place that much more compelling, though it definitely peaks with Michael Mando's fiery monologue before bowing out.
