It's impossible not to feel for Howard Hamlin, the successful lawyer who, despite his occasional arrogance and the grudges he held, deserved nothing of the humiliation Saul and Kim inflicted on him throughout the show's sixth season.

Plan and Execution brings an end to an entire season's worth of meticulous plotting against Howard, but the joy Saul and Kim get from beating him down is destroyed in an instant, when Lalo comes knocking and executes Howard simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, another victim of Saul's past.

Howard's is a simple death befitting the man, blunt and cruel, and hammers home just how deadly Saul really is, whether he means to be or not. With him gone, you get the sense that everything's finally doomed to come crumbling down.

Lalo also shines here, lurking in the shadows like a predator waiting to pounce, but for all intents and purposes this is Howard's hour, and Patrick Fabian, god love him, sells the tragedy of his demise beautifully.
