20 Best Netflix Original Shows
1. BoJack Horseman
Out of every show Netflix has produced over the years, none can topple BoJack Horseman's place as the best of them all. Raphael Bob-Waksberg's animated tragicomedy is certainly one of the greatest shows ever made. Not only is it unique, but its consistency, daring and writing is almost without equal.
The six season series follows the titular BoJack Horseman (Will Arnett), a faded and depressed former TV star who has slipped into addiction and constantly hurts himself and everyone around him in a futile search for peace and meaning. Along the way, he effects the lives of his close friend Todd (Aaron Paul), his agent Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), and his biographer Diane (Alison Brie).
BoJack Horseman is set in a world made up of humans and animal-human hybrids. It's funny in a typical, quirky adult animation way, but boosts itself to greatness by tackling challenging themes such as depression, addiction, sexuality, the Hollywood experience and trauma with both heart and progressive sensitivity.
Occasionally, it's the funniest thing on TV. Other times, it's the most heartbreaking. Either way, BoJack Horseman is a unique and unrivalled addition to Netflix's platform, and currently stands as the best show the streaming service has ever produced.
