20 Best South Park Characters Of All Time
Meet some friends of mine...
Ever since creating a short Christmas film in college together in 1992, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been breathing life into some of the most eccentric and titillating characters the small screen has ever seen. South Park is now on it's 18th season, and remains one of Comedy Centrals highest rated shows, with no sign of Parker and Stone's comedic genius wearing any where near thin yet.
The reason for the shows success is most likely down to it's reliance on the enormous recurring cast of characters that have lived in South Par , responsible for the dark and satirical commentary that we, as fans, have grown to love. From political dictators, to aliens and child psychopaths, it's hard not to fall in love with the inhabitants of the town and, sometimes, even harder to justify why you like them so much without offending someone...
20. Cthuhlu
Best Episode: Coon Vs Coon and Friends, S14 Ep 13
H.P Lovecrafts monstrous creation featured heavily in the 3 part episode following the Coon and friends and was possibly the largest creature ever designed by Parker and Stone. The pair got the details of the Cthuhlu's description down so perfectly, the end product would have made Lovecraft himself proud to behold. The Cthuhlu's tentacles, wings and clawed hands and feet were all accurate to the original description and pulled off perfectly by South Parks team of designers and animators.
Cthuhlu was such a good addition to the series because he was probably the last thing that you'd ever expect to see on TV alone, never mind on South Park. Also, with Parker and Stone turning the Cthuhlu into a warm, cuddly, sleepy creature when introduced to Cartman as the Coon, the creators managed to humanise a cosmic being and linking him so comfortably with Cartman made every bit of sense: evil begets evil after all so it was only a matter of time that the two would be introduced.
