20 Best TV Comedy Shows Of The 21st Century
7. Scrubs
A more ambitious and occasionally experimental single camera sitcom, the hospital-set Scrubs offered a mash up of medical drama and traditional comedy which allowed it to hit emotionally devastating places few sitcoms are able to handle, whilst always able to fall back on its hilarious cast for comic relief.
The superb
chemistry between leads Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke, as a pair of doctors
entangled in an on-off relationship, kept us coming back, but each individual
instalment of this series benefited from a charming supporting cast including the
always underrated John C. Reilly and a whole host of eccentric bit parts for
comic talents, whilst its serious setting was always on hand to anchor the
surreal humour with some emotional heft.
