20 Best TV Comedy Shows Of The 21st Century

3. The Office

The Office
NBC

We had to list this one, especially when Parks and Recreation didn’t make the cut—Steve Carrell’s finest onscreen hour was the best workplace sitcom in decades, with a sprawling ensemble which the series somehow managed to spotlight throughout each successively better season.

Benefitting from some of Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak’s best work both behind and in front of the camera, the slow burn romance of Jim and Pam, and underrated minor players like Stanley, Phyllis, and the always hilarious Creed, this series will always have a place in the heart of sitcom fans—and yes, after that incredible finale, we’re even willing to include the uneven later seasons in this assessment. At least Catherine Tate is funny in them!
