20 Best TV Shows Of The Last Decade
17. American Crime Story
Ryan Murphy has been a prevalent name across the last decade in the TV landscape, evolving from the guy who made Nip/Tuck, to a major production powerhouse, that is spearheading five to six shows at any given time.
His genre hit, American Horror Story was a major factor of the TV anthology format rising in popularity, yet due to that shows hit-and-miss quality, it misses a spot here. Instead, we can focus on the high-bar of his other anthology show.
It has only run for two seasons so far, but more then earns spot due to the high-quality mark. Both seasons are in-depth examinations of sensationalist 90s headline stories, specifically the OJ Simpson trial, and the Versace murder.
The casts are A-list, the style is extraordinary and the material gripping. It works equally as a pulpy page-turner, but also as a subversion of the sensationalist plotlines, adding a much needed depth and human element to proceedings.
