20 Funniest Moments In British Comedy

1. The Caped Crusader - Only Fools & Horses

The Show: Despite taking a number of series to connect with an audience (proof, if anymore was needed, of why a non-commercial TV station is so vital to nurturing new talent), Only Fools and Horses tells the story of two brothers and their constant attempts to climb both the social and financial ladder. Backed by a peerless set of supporting characters, the duo constantly find their aspirations and dreams just out of reach, always in the most hilarious of circumstances.

The Setup: Del and Rodney have, for reasons it's easier to not go into, found themselves dressed as Batman and Robin... in the centre of town... just as the pubs are about to chuck out. To save face, they decide to run home out of sight of the pubs and, thus, save from ridicule by their friends. What follows remains arguably the most iconic moment in British comedy and, to this day, an outrageously hilarious piece of situational comedy. Oh, and if you were expecting to see Del falling through the bar here give your head a good hard shake.
