20 Greatest Arrowverse Villains
6. Zoom
Season two of The Flash gave us another rival speedster that our hero couldn’t defeat by pegging it alone… the monstrous Zoom.
Plenty of people remember Zoom with less than adoring fondness, given season two’s alarming similarity to the major beats of season one. You had a speedster, from another world masquerading as a mentor figure to Barry Allen out of costume while literally running rings around him in costume: a villain who would be responsible for the murder of one of his parents.
However, taken on his own there was a lot to love. Hunter Zolomon was a serial killer, a warped and twisted psyche who used his superspeed like garden-variety psychopaths used knives. His status as archvillain of Earth 2 allowed him access to some of that world’s most notorious lesser bad guys to bedevil The Flash, which helped pace the season’s arc without
And he was scary. Looking like nothing so much as a hulking, demonic version of the Flash himself, Zoom was a roaring, clawed monstrosity, catching bullets and lightning bolts with devilish ease.
It made perfect sense that after his defeat, he would be resurrected as the macabre Black Flash - the sentient Speed Force’s hitman, sent to assassinate any speedster who dared to abuse time travel.
