There's no need to fear -- Underdog is here! With one simple catchphrase, the adorably awesome Underdog sprinted out of a telephone booth and into our hearts. He was an unassuming shoeshine boy (appropriately named "Shoeshine Boy") by day, but as soon as trouble appeared, he transformed into the crimefighting superhero, Underdog. This popular cartoon aired on NBC from 1964 to 1973 (although original production ceased in 1967), and was introduced to a whole new generation of fans on Nickelodeon in the early 1990s. We loved his penchant for verse, and his surprisingly self aware nature. For example, Underdog was one of the very few shows to address the massive property damage caused by superheroes. When questioned about it, Underdog would wave criticisms aside, saying, "I am a hero who never fails; I cannot be bothered with such details."
